ElectronicRhythm.com started with two local DJ's and producers, G-Ron and Diggy, seeking an outlet for sharing the creative outlet and passion that drives so many artists in New York. With no mainstream media coverage in the big apple, the duo knew that a DIY approach, one that harnessed new trends in mobile technology, would be the only way for the underground electronic music community in New York to thrive while retaining a close connection to its roots.

Paddling on their ER boogie-boards, G-Ron and Diggy initially worked their plans from a small Queens studio, creating a documentary model that captured the personalities, crowds, and stories found within the techno, house, drum and bass, bass, and IDM scenes in New York. Focusing on a mobile-friendly, HD-ready platform, and creating a fan-friendly online experience that tied mobile and social video elements together with an event-based live stream, the duo soon found themselves documenting a cresting wave of interest in electronic music – with a critical difference being that this scene was raw, local, and unfiltered for the mass market.

This trailer shot for ElectronicRhythm.com encompasses a very brief slice of that underground electronic music scene. With over 150+ events shot to date, and an incredibly strong number of local and international partnerships, the ER team is entering competition in the Sundance-Nokia London's 2013 film festival, furthering its goals of both documenting and promoting the creativity, inspiration, and incredibly exciting art being shared in New York's electronic music community today.

Our goal is to build a mobile and interactive musical-cultural exchange, a positive cycle of growth and new art through the coverage we provide and the connections we can foster. Find out more about how we're making it happen:

We’re excited to welcome Owen Howells here stateside in a few months. Along with a slew of dates throughout North America and Canada, Owen will grace the decks here in NYC with the Momentum/Rite of Wednesdays crew at Karma. Here’s his recent interview with Pulse Radio:

Pulse Loves… DIY attitude. Tell us about how you started DJing and producing? My first experience of DJing was about 12 years ago. I was living with my family in Brighton and I visited my sisters house for a party. She lived in a housing cooperative and they ran a pirate radio station from their carport which you had to access via a manhole in their garden(!). That night they threw a house party which also tuned in to the station and I was just down there with all the records and funny ‘radio brighton’ jingles mapped across a keyboard. On and off since then I’ve always had a pair of turntables, and an interest in broadcasting and electronic music.

I started producing when I moved to London about 5 years ago, and am still sort of getting the hang of things. We moved back to the UK after spending a few years in Adelaide, Australia where I grew up. By the time we returned I was more or less completely focused on DJing and producing, and began studying music as a mature student, supporting myself by working in retail, just basically doing anything to learn the craft I love so much and further myself as an artist…
